Golf: Pinoy bets 9 shots back in lightning-suspended Indonesia Masters
Filipinos Angelo Que, Antonio Lascuna and Elmer Salvador were lucky enough to finish their second round before play was suspended due to lightning threat but they were nine shots behind clubhouse leader Lee Westwood of England in the CIMB NIAGA Indonesia Masters in Jakarta. The game play was abandoned at 5:27 p.m. local time. Play was also suspended earlier in the day for two hours and 20 minutes for the same reason. A total of 74 players who will return at 6.30 a.m. Sunday to complete their rounds. Que shot a one-over-par 73, Lascuna leveled with a 72 and Salvador came through with a 71 to finish with identical 142s in the $75,000 Asian Tour tournament. Mars Pucay made a 74 for 147. Que opened with three bogeys at the back nine but shaved a stroke with a birdie on the 18th for a 38 at halfway point. He improved to 35, thanks to a birdie on the ninth, to salvage that 73. He was somewhat off-form, hitting only 8 fairways and putting 30 times. Lascuna, although he putted well, struggled to reach the greens in regulation to end with three birdies and the same number of bogeys. Jay Bayron (71-149), Miguel Tabuena (75-150), are Jhonel Ababa (76-152) awaiting the final second round results to determine if they'll move on to the next rounds. Westwood, the world's No. 3 player, toured the Royale Jakarta Golf Club with a bogey-free, four-under-par 68 for an 11-under-par 133 total. He holds a five-stroke advantage over Australian Kieran Pratt (65-138), winner of the Zaykabar Myanmar Open in February. Shiv Kapur of India was at third with a 71-139.
