Cone not crying over spilled milk, looks forward to Game 3
B-MEG coach Tim Cone said they're the ones to blame for losing Game Two of the PBA Commissioner's Cup best-of-seven finals series. "We shot ourselves in the foot. They stole the game from us, makes you feel bad," said Cone after the Llamados' 104-102 loss against defending champion Talk 'N Text Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. B-MEG was holding on to a 99-94 lead, with one minute and 38 seconds left in the fourth period, but failed to stop Jason Castro's end-game heroics with the 5-foot-11 playmaker draining a three-pointer at the 35-second mark to shove the Tropang Texters in front for good. B-MEG even fell behind early as the Texters opened with a 5-0 run and settled for a 24-16 count after 12 minutes of play. But the Llamados clawed their way back in the game. "I'm proud of our guys we overcame a lot and had the game under control but we just couldn't get that last basket," said Cone. James Yap's missed open jumper and Denzel Bowles' turnover doomed the Llamados further in the final 20 seconds of the fourth period. "We missed that hurried shot by James (Yap) and Denzel (Bowles) threw the ball away," said Cone. Cone, despite the loss, is already shifting his focus to Game Three. "It's over and done with, we'll get refocused." "All (Talk 'N Text) did was tie it. (It is) just back to a best-of-five series. It is just a waste because we let it go." Cone added that they’ll make adjustments to better match-up with the Tropang Texters, who limited Peter June Simon to 10 points after the Llamados swingman scattered 18 in the finals opener. The loss wasted Bowles' 33-point output and Yap's big game of 25 markers on 5-of-18 shooting from three-point range. "I thought we responded well and we didn't get discouraged. We battled back, got ahead and had a chance to win. We'll just try to get better and stronger by this," ended Cone. — JVP, GMA News
