Lea Salonga, Alain Boublil get warm welcome from Pinoys in Canada
International Filipino singer and actress Lea Salonga and Tunisian music artist Alain Boublil were warmly welcomed by Filipinos when they visited Ottawa in Canada last weekend. Salonga and Boublil were guests of Philippine Ambassador to Canada Leslie Gatan and his wife Debbie at the Tahanang Rizal, the Ambassador's official residence on May 12. "After a sumptuous Filipino brunch, Ambassador Gatan gifted Mr. Boublil with Dr. Jose Rizal's masterpieces, the Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, in keeping with the Embassy's cultural diplomacy initiatives," the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Wednesday . The other guests included Marie Zamora, Kathy Voytko and Shelly Fuerte who were in town for the dream concert "Do You Hear the People Sing" at the National Arts Center.
