The music industry mourned again as another legend passed away this week. Netizens expressed their sadness on the Twitter universe or Twitterverse over the death of Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb.
A singer and co-founder of the 70s pop band Bee Gees, Gibb died Sunday, May 20 (UK time) after a long battle with cancer.
Gibb formed the Bee Gees with brothers Barry and Maurice, and as a group, they won six Grammy awards as well as the 2003 Grammy Legend award.
The Bee Gees sold 200 million records and had over 60 hit singles.
According to the Grammy official website, the Bee Gees’ peak came in the late 70s when they scored six consecutive number 1 hits. The group was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.
Some of the pop band's famous songs are “How Deep Is Your Love,” “Stayin' Alive,” “More Than a Woman,” and “Night Fever.”
Music industry insiders and music lovers alike expressed their love for Gibb in their Twitter accounts, a social networking site.
Two other legends
The month of May also saw the music industry lose two other legends—Disco Queen Donna Summer and Godfather of Go-Go music Chuck Brown.
Summer died last Thursday (Friday in the PH) at the age of 63 due to cancer.
Her most famous songs are "Hot Stuff," "She Works Hard for the Money," and "Last Dance."
Brown, meanwhile, died on May 16 at the age of 75.
According to Chuck Brown's official website, Washingtonian Magazine recently named him as one of the 45 most influential people who shaped DC in the past 45 years. –Mac Macapendeg/KG, GMA News
