Pinoy boxing greats visit Pacquiao training camp
Filipino boxers Onyok Velasco, Luisito Espinosa, and Gerry Peñalosa were at the Wildcard Gym in Los Angeles Thursday, to visit Manny Pacquiao before his June 9 (June 10, PHL time) fight against Timothy Bradley at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. In an interview by Pia Arcangel for 24 Oras, the three former champions expressed their support for the eight-division boxing champ, noting that the Sarangani representative is ready to face his American foe. "Tindi ng training niya ngayon kaya wala tayong kaduda-duda na manananalo tayo," said Mansueto "Onyok" Velasco, a silver medalist at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. "Sa nakikita ko ngayon, mas mabilis siya. Lalo siyang lumakas pa," said Luisito Espinosa, the former WBA Bantamweight and WBC Featherweight champion. "Makikita natin yung focus niya. Yung talagang detirmaninado na makapagbigay ng magandang laban," added former WBO Bantamweight and WBC Super Flyweight champion Gerry Peñalosa. Pacquiao welcomed the three, who will also be on hand to watch the fight live. "I'm so happy with them here in Wildcard na binisita nila ako. At least nakaka-bonding kami. Siyempre nadedevelop yung friendship namin," said Pacquiao. - Renee Fopalan / AMD, GMA News
