With help from colleagues, NAIA porter proposes to girlfriend

One can now say conspiracy is more fun in the Philippines, after an airport porter proposed to his girlfriend with the help of co-workers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Monday afternoon.

 

With his "co-conspirators," Jun Raymundo, 30, surprised girlfriend Mutya Araja as she arrived aboard a flight from Italy, radio dzBB reported Tuesday.

 

Raymundo's colleagues and neighbors wore shirts with the message "I love you, Mutya" and brought streamers with the message asking her to marry him, the report said.

 

The report said fellow porters handed Mutya red roses while Raymundo knelt down and asked: “Will you marry me?” and prompted her to answer “Yes!” to applause from the crowd.

 

Raymundo said he could not afford Monday's proposal, but friends, neighbors and colleagues chipped in for the shirts, banners and flowers.

 

Raymundo courted Araja, a neighbor in Oriental Mindoro, for seven years. But she had to leave for Milan in Italy where she is now based.

 

Araja arrived in the Philippines Monday for a short visit. She said she was surprised with the gesture. –KG, GMA News
