While Timothy Bradley's camp is ready and waiting for a rematch with Manny Pacquiao, Top Rank Promotions, which handles both fighters, is hesitant to pull the trigger on it, with president Todd DuBoef saying that the public's confidence in the sport needs to be restored first. Cameron Duncan, Bradley's manager said he wasn't sure if such a rematch would happen on November 10, the date being promoted even prior to Bradley's win, but he told Jim Lampley on "The Fight Game with Jim Lampley" that "definitely it's a fight that has to happen." Bradley defeated Pacquiao in a controversial split-decision, to claim the Filipino ring icon's WBO welterweight title. However, DuBoef appeared a segment later on the same show and said, "Right now, the rematch is not something that we are proceeding with. We're going to wait to hear from Manny [as] he wants the fight [on] November 10. We'll have conversations, but I really think that the public needs to have restored confidence [in boxing, first]." Added DuBoef, "There's a really unfortunate situation where you have a global hero who's a victim, you have a guy who wins who's now being ridiculed, and in this particular case, we really believe that the [Nevada] Athletic Commission should have done like the NBA or the NFL…have their commissioner come out front and say, 'let's evaluate everything.'" He also dispelled rumors of a Top Rank-fix, pointing out that rematch clauses in boxing were "very common in our business," comparing the situation to Hollywood sequels. "We had a rematch clause in the [Shane] Mosley fight, and we had a rematch clause in the [Juan Manuel] Marquez fight. In movies, a lot of times, they control the cost of the next event or the next movie, and they do that by locking up the content." DuBoef also feels that the public ought to be better educated in how to score rounds, saying, "Consumers are largely misled by how you score a round, and I think that should be inserted in the broadcast." While Bradley versus Pacquiao 2 seems stuck in limbo for the time being, Juan Manuel Marquez and his representatives are making their case to be Pacquiao's next bout, with a possible fourth match between the two rivals taking place in Marquez's home turf of Mexico. - AMD, GMA News
