September 11, 2012 5:23am

(Updated 8:13 a.m.) - At least 13 families lost their homes in a predawn fire that razed 10 houses in a residential area in Payatas, Quezon City Tuesday.

No one was initially reported injured in the fire that started at Phase 1, Block 1 in Lupang Pangako at 3:05 a.m., radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported.

The fire started at the house of one Gervacio Apollo and reached the fourth alarm before it was put out at 4:16 a.m., the report said.

Initial investigation showed neighbors started shouting when they saw flames coming out of Apollo's house.

The shouts from the neighbors eventually woke the Apollo family and prompted them to flee the house.

Arson investigators are verifying reports a leaking liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank caused the fire. — DVM/KG, GMA News
