Episode on Jan. 22, 2007 Being a mother is one of the toughest jobs in the world. It’s round-the-clock work without pay. The difficulty doubles when a mother is differently abled. Kara David introduces us to three extraordinary moms. Bing was born with both arms paralyzed but still cares for her two children and her blind husband. She uses her feet for everyday chores – from chopping vegetables to washing dishes to sweeping floors. She can even type text messages on her cell phone! Bai lost her eyesight when she was only four years old. She is now married to a blind man with whom she has an eight-month-old baby. When her husband is out working as a masseur, Bai is a housewife who single-handedly manages to take care of their child. Sabel is one of the hardest-working mothers David has interviewed. Living at a seaside town in Pangasinan, Sabel wakes at dawn everyday, looking for shells that can be eaten or sold as necklaces. Mid-morning, she washes the dirty clothes of customers. By late afternoon, Sabel is on the street selling freshly caught fish. She fills her day with work to provide a living for her three children and husband despite having no hands. Three handicapped women with one goal: to be mothers no matter what.
