Palace congratulates Pinoy student winners of math, science olympiad in India
Malacañang on Saturday congratulated the elementary students who figured prominently in the recently concluded 9th International Mathematics and Science Olympiad in India from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2. Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said the performance of the Philippine team should inspire the students to continue their academic excellence, especially in science and math. “Sana ipagpatuloy ninyo ang academic excellence especially in science and math,” she said on government-run dzRB radio. The students have done the country proud because they excelled in competition with other countries even at an early age, she added. The Philippine team had bagged 23 medals from the tilt held in Lucknow, India from Oct. 28 to Nov. 1. It bested representatives from China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Nepal, South Africa, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Taiwan. Shaquille Wyan Que, 12, of Grace Christian College, topped the Mathematics category, where Filipino contingent also won five silvers and six bronzes. In the Science category, seven members of the Philippine delegation earned silver medals, while four took home bronzes. - SFP, VVP, GMA News
