Even the Angry Birds aren't immune to the Christmas spirit: they have a holiday song this year —and it's for a good cause.
Rovio, the creator of the monster hit game, said the new holiday song “Fly Me Home Tonight” will help establish clubs for schoolchildren in developing countries.
"We’re donating the profits from downloads of the song to Save the Children and their efforts to establish clubs for schoolchildren in developing countries. These clubs encourage kids to play and have fun while also learning key life skills that will improve the quality of life for them and their families. It’s a great cause, and we’re proud to support it," Rovio said in a release.
It urged netizens to share the song with friends on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, email, and even "carrier pigeon and skywriting."
Noting it is the season to give thanks and give back, Rovio said "we’d love you to join us in supporting Save the Children."
Meanwhile, Rovio also released Angry Birds Star Wars on Facebook although on beta, tech site The Next Web reported.
It said Rovio CMO and "Mighty Eagle" Peter Vesterbacka tweeted a link to the Facebook game but Rovio has yet to announce it to its more than 22 million Facebook fans.
"Likely, Rovio wants to have the brand new Facebook game tested by a limited number of users before making a lot of noise about it," it said. — TJD, GMA News
