Apple fans in Russia have come up with a memorial to the late Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs in the biggest way they know how: with a giant iPhone-like memorial.

The interactive memorial, based on the look of the iPhone 5, was set up in St. Petersburg, according to a report on tech site The Next Web.

"It appears that the memorial also has accompanying text, translated into different languages, that are further used to illustrate and explain the technology entrepreneur’s hugely successful career. The screen itself also looks to be a touchscreen, allowing visitors to select parts of the biography themselves," The Next Web added.

A bright display on the front makes the monument look like the iPhone 5, while the screen displays a slideshow of moments in Jobs' life.

Some of his most well-known speeches as Apple CEO were included in the presentation, the report added.

The Next Web also noted there is a QR code on the back which visitors can scan with their smartphone to visit a specific website commemorating Jobs.

"This could be the Remembering Steve page available on Apple’s website, which was setup after he passed away in October 2011," it said.

People can visit the iPhone-like memorial at the courtyard of the St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics.

Design competition

Last year, the Progress IT Fund held a competition to choose a designer and design for the memorial. The eventual winning design beat out 200 submissions.

Gleb Tarasov, a St. Petersburg local, was chosen for the monument design that he has called “Sunny QR Code,” The Next Web said. — TJD, GMA News
