Gilas sweeps through the first round of Super Kung Sheung Cup

The Philippine national team swept through the first round of the Super Kung Sheung Cup, blowing out Malaysia 119-46, Thursday at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Hong Kong. This one though, was their largest margin of victory yet. [Related: Canaleta, Alas lead Gilas past Hong Kong] The win was punctuated by a vicious 32-4 fourth quarter, with Gilas romping away with this win. Not a single player from Malaysia scored in double-figures, with Gan Hong Hoong producing a team-best eight. Greg Slaughter, making up for missing the previous game against Hong Kong due to illness, top-scored with 27 points on 12-of-14 shooting. Gunners Kevin Alas and RR Garcia added 18 each, while KG Canaleta continued to wax hot with 14 markers.
