Jay Bayron tries his luck anew for a maiden crown in the Asian Tour beginning Wednesday when the sixth edition of the $300,000 SAIL-SBI Open opens at the Delhi Golf Club in India.

Bayron, the Order of Merit winner in the 2012 Asian Development Tour (ADT), tees off on No. 1 at 8:30 am with Indian Gaurav Ghei and Australian Matthew Stieger.

He missed the cut in the Zaykabar Myanmar Open last month on his first stint as a full pledged Asian Tour regular, but hopes to make it to the third round this time.

"I'm only in my second event on the tour, many things can happen.  I am a bit jittery for now but eventually I will be able to settle down and make a good run," he said.

Fellow Davaoenos Elmer Salvador and Antonio Lascuna will play in the early morning at Hole No. 10.

Salvador has been paired with Zaw Moe of Myanmar and Vinod Kumar of India while Lascuna has Jonathan Moore of USA and Himmat Rai of India as company.

Miguel Tabuena, an Asian Tour sophomore, gets off the gates late at 12:35 pm with flight mates Carlos Pigem of Spain and Khalin Joshi of India.

The Filipinos are out to challenge the title won by local Anirban Lahiri in a playoff last year.  Sri Lankan Mithun Perera and American Berry Henson will join him at the opening round. - AMD, GMA News
