BPO revenues rose 18% in 2012 – IBPAP
The business process outsourcing (BPO) industry's revenues rose 18 percent to $13 billion last year from $11 million in 2011, the Information Technology and Business Processing Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) said Tuesday. IBPAP was formerly known as the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP). The number of industry workers also rose 21.8 percent from 640,000 in 2011 to 780,000 in 2012. IBPAP expects the number to rise to 926,000 this year. The association also projects revenues to reach $16 billion in 2013. “We are still one of the strongest in the industry and that is pulling us up,” said IBPAP executive director for external affairs Gillian Inocencio-Marcial told reporters in Makati. Under its industry roadmap, IBPAP is targeting $25 billion in revenues and a workforce of 1.3 million by 2016. — BM, GMA News
