(Updated 5:39 p.m.) Hackers believed to be from China defaced the website of the Philippines News Agency, the Philippine government's news wire service, Sunday noon. But the PNA website was back to normal at about 1 p.m. Sunday, according to a report on government-run People's Television (PTV-4). "We continue to adopt measures that will strengthen the security of our websites," said Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. after the incident. The PTV-4 report said the hackers, who claimed to be the "China Hacker EvilShad0w Team,” replaced the PNA home page contents with an image of the Chinese flag. “China Hacker EvilShadow Team ... We are the evil shadow... We are the team... We have our own dignity... China Hacker Lxxker... Mail: 9716812@qq.com,” the message read. "This seems to be in retaliation to the recent arrest of supposed Chinese fishermen whose ship grounded off the World Heritage Site, Tubbataha Reef," the PNA said in a post on its website. It also noted the PNA website was defaced last year by those claiming to be Chinese at the height of a dispute over the Panatag (Scarborough) Shoal. Last Monday, a Chinese fishing vessel ran aground at Tubbataha Reef. The 12 supposed fishermen aboard it were arrested and charged for poaching and trying to bribe park rangers. They are now detained at the Palawan provincial jail. — LBG/BM, GMA News
