UST (L) foils a UP defender's catch to score at endzone, but it was too late for the Thomasians, as the Diliman squad was already leading by nine points. Roehl Niño Bautista, GMA News
University of the Philippines Diliman retained their National Ultimate Collegiate Championship cup after whipping University of Santo Tomas 15-5, at the UP Sunken Garden on Sunday.
The back-to-back champs made their first score 10 seconds into the final, leaving UST scrambling to find some sense of rhythm to their game. Trailing by three, UST finally made some successful catches, but UPD was already pulling away, running up their score to 10-4.
UP Diliman then never looked back, although UST had one last hurrah late. Foiling an interception at their own end zone, Santo Tomas stole the disc from the Diliman defender in midair from behind, to make it 14-5.
That however was their final hurrah, as UPD finished the game, 15-5, on the next possession.
