“The symposium will tackle several controversies and hopefully, find answers to these issues in gastroenterology and hepatology. We have also invited speakers who are willing to share their expertise in their respective specialties such as viral hepatitis, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), cirrhosis and liver cancer. These are among the liver conditions that are prevalent in today’s population,” says Dr. Joseph Bocobo, overall chairperson for the symposium.
Speakers include Dr. Robert Gish from the University of California San Diego Medical Center; Dr. Patrick Kamath and Dr. W. Ray Kim, both from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota; Dr. Lino J. de Guzman of the Loma Linda University in California; and Dr. Vu Kwan of the Westmead Hospital in Sydney, Australia.
Among the topics in gastroenterology to be covered include Barrett’s Esophagus, obscure GI bleeding, colon cancer screening, acute pancreatitis, esophagealvarices, foreign body ingestion, gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) and eosinophilic esophagitis.
Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits will be given for Philippine Medical Association (PMA) and Philippine College of Physicians (PCP) participants.
