Nobutatsu Suzuki scored the most exciting stoppage of the night as he stopped Phil Baroni in the very first round, in their ONE FC: Rise to Power bout at the MOA Arena, Friday.

The dry spell also continued for the Filipino fighters as Rey Docyogen loss via split decision to Japan's Yasuhiro Urushitani.

Suzuki and Baroni knew that it would be a purely striking fight as Suzuki is a karate student, while Baroni is a kickboxer.

The American started the battle with heavy punches that stunned the Japanese fighter. Baroni also scored a takedown, but Suzuki powered out of it.

When the two got back to their feet, Suzuki turned out to be the aggressor. He cornered Baroni and unleashed four knees. Suzuki then dropped Baroni with a big right hand and finished him off with hammer fists on the ground.

Baroni stayed on the canvas, and had to be carted out of the cage, but he appeared to be okay. He held his fist up as he was being wheeled out to acknowledge the cheers from the crowd.

He apparently suffered from a broken ankle as he twisted his foot when he was knocked down.

Suzuki now holds a record of 10 wins against a loss and two draws, while Baroni drops down further to 15 wins against 17 losses.

With Team Lakay desperately needing a victory, Docyogen stepped into the ring against Urushitani. The Japanese was the first Team Lakay opponent who did not take the fight to the ground, but he still managed to get the win.

Docyogen scored the first meaningful strike of the match as he connected with a head kick.

The Filipino continued to score with both leg and head kicks while staying away from trouble by circling away.

In the second round, Docyogen continued to be the aggressor, kicking things off literally with another big head kick and a right straight that momentarily stopped Urushitani.

The frustrated Japanese fighter tried carelessly charging in to hit a flying knee, but but Docyogen calmly stepped to the side and continued throwing his powerful leg kicks.

Feeling that he had a two-round advantage, Docyogen stayed away from trouble by dancing around the cage. However, Urushitani bloodied up Docyogen's nose which prompted the referee to stop the fight momentarily to get it checked.

Docyogen was deemed fit to continue. Urushitani charged in but Docyogen met him with a flying kick.

The Filipino stayed away from trouble the rest of the round.

When the result was read, the crowd was stunned silent as Urushitani was announced as the winner via split decision. - AMD, GMA News
