YouTube users soon need not spend too much time wondering if their videos were uploaded properly to the video-sharing site - they will soon get an email notifying them if the procedure went well.

In a blog post, YouTube engineer Balazs Dezso said this would be useful for those tired of refreshing the upload page to see if their video has finished uploading and can be shared.

"Starting this week, we will send you an email to notify you that your video is done uploading and processing. You can then forward that email to friends or family for easy sharing," Dezso said.

Users who do not want to receive such emails can opt out of it by changing their email settings.

Also, Dezso said newly uploaded YouTube videos will be set to private by default, so a user will have time to input data such as the title, description, and custom message.

"Until you tell us to publish your video, we'll treat it as private so it’ll be visible only to you. We’ll start rolling out this change next week, so hang tight if you don't see this change just yet-- and don’t forget to press Publish!" Dezso said.

But tech site The Next Web said it is not immediately clear how exactly this will work, and whether a user can still be able to hit "publish" while the video is uploading.  — ELR, GMA News
