GMA News correspondent wins US journalism award

The Los Angeles, United States show business correspondent of GMA News recently won a journalism award in that country for one of her columns.
In a statement, it was announced that Janet Susan Nepales won second prize in the Best Columnist/Critic-International Journalism category of the LA Press Club's 55th Annual Southern California Journalism Awards on June 23, Sunday.
Nepales won for her column "Hollywood Bulletin" in Philippine broadsheet Manila Bulletin about Barbra Streisand.
Aside from writing for the Manila Bulletin, Nepales writes a weekly column for Philippine News entitled "Dateline: Hollywood" and is GMA News' LA correspondent.
In August last year, Nepales was selected as one of the 100 Most Influential Filipina-American Women in the US by the Filipina Women's Network.
Nepales is also the first and only Filipina member in the prestigious Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which is behind the coveted Golden Globe Awards that recognize excellence in film and television.
Nepales finished her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism degree at the University of Santo Tomas with cum laude honors.
She was managing editor of the university paper "The Varsitarian" and also editor-in-chief of the Faculty of Arts and Letters’ magazine "The Flame."
