(Updated 12:39pm) Jordan picked up its first win as part of Group E in the second round of the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship, at the expense of keeping Hong Kong winless, via an 80-54 drubbing, Tuesday at the MOA Arena.
Jordan was led by Mohammad Hadrab with 21 points on an efficient 70 percent shooting clip from the field. He was backed up by Mahmoud Abdeen who added 13 markers.
The qualifier from the West Asia Basketball Championship improved to 1-3, while Hong Kong remained at the bottom of the standings with a 0-4 card. With the win, Jordan kept their hopes of making it into the quarterfinals alive. They can sneak into the elite eight teams in the FIBA Asia competitions if they manage to subdue Japan in their game tomorrow
In a show of their dominance, Jordan began the game by doubling up on Hong Kong's first quarter production, 18-9, setting the tone for the match. They then ran away with this one, as Hong Kong simply did not have the firepower to hang with their foes.
Only Fong Shing Yi scored in double-digits for Hong Kong with 10. As a team, Hong Kong only managed to convert on 33 percent of their field goal attempts, compared to 43 percent for Jordan.
Jordan continued to pull away in the second and third periods. Their nine-point first quarter lead climbed to 13 points in the second quarter before ballooning to 23 markers heading into the final period.
Even as they emptied their bench, Jordan was still able to pad their lead towards the end game, outscoring their foes 17-14 in the final canto.
