(Updated 7:03pm) The University of the East Red Warriors are seeking to clarify a UAAP rule that could end with the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles forfeiting their win last Sunday over the former team.

The defending champions Ateneo won 77-72, but team officials of the Red Warriors claim in a letter submitted to the UAAP board that Perasol was present at the venue, violating a rule that stipulates that members of a team serving a suspension are not allowed at the game venue.

Photographs of Perasol on the MOA Arena court after the final buzzer surfaced online on collegiate sports website Full Court Fresh.

In addition to the pictures, Kali Quinones, a desk editor at Solar News, also said he was present when Perasol gave a post-game interview, where the former Powerade Tigers mentor admitted he was in the dugout of the Blue Eagles "the whole time."

The Warriors were eliminated from Final Four contention by the loss to the Blue Eagles, but if their clarification results in the forfeiture of Ateneo's win, the Warriors would stay alive with a 6-6 record, tying their foes.

As of now, the UST Growling Tigers and Ateneo are battling for the last Final Four berth, as both have 7-5 cards. Those two teams will also play each other on September 18, the final elimination round game day.

This means that should UE win both their remaining games against the Adamson Falcons and UP Maroons, their resulting 8-6 record will likely allow them to at least force a playoff for the last Final Four slot.

It should be noted that players are not affected by this rule, which covers only coaches and team managers. According to the UAAP rules, suspended athletes "shall not be allowed to sit in [sic] the bench and its immediate vicinity." - AMD, GMA News
