SWS: PNoy, Binay satisfaction ratings dip

Public satisfaction with President Benigno Aquino III and Vice President Jejomar Binay dipped in the third quarter of 2013, according to a new survey by Social Weather Stations. 

 

In its survey from Sept. 20 to 23, SWS said Aquino's net satisfaction rating in September was a "good" +49, which is 15 points below the "very good" +64 score he had in June.

 

Meanwhile, Binay's satisfaction ratings dipped from "excellent" to "very good" in the third quarter of 2013, registering a +69, with 78 percent satisfied and 10 percent not satisfied with his performance.

 

Binay had scored an "excellent" +76 net rating in June, the SWS noted in its survey, whose results it posted Tuesday on the website of its media partner BusinessWorld.

 

SWS considers satisfaction ratings of +70 and up as "excellent"; +50 to +69 as "very good"; +30 to +49 as "good"; +10 to +29 as "moderate", and +9 to -9 as "neutral."

 

It considers scores of -10 to -29 as "poor"; -30 to -49 as "bad"; -50 to -69 as "very bad"; and -70 and below as "execrable."

 

September's SWS survey used face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adult Filipinos nationwide, with sampling error margins of +/-3% for national and +/-6% for area percentages applying to the survey.

 

Drilon, Belmonte

 

Meanwhile, the SWS said Senate President Franklin Drilon scored a "good" +37 with 55 percent satisfied and 18 percent dissatisfied.

 

This was 12 points higher the "moderate" +25 he got when he was last rated as Senate President in June 2006.

 

Drilon's immediate predecessor, Juan Ponce Enrile, had a net rating in June 2013 of +38.

 

For his part, House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. had his net satisfaction rating up two points to a "moderate" +18 with 41 percent satisfied, 23 percent dissatisfied.

 

Belmonte scored +16 in June.

 

CJ Sereno

 

Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno saw her net satisfaction rating go up four points to a "moderate" +17 with 39 percent satisfied and 22 percent dissatisfied. She scored a moderate +13 in June.

 

Government institutions

 

The Senate's net satisfaction rating fell to +36 with 59 percent satisfied and 23 percent dissatisfied, to "good" from a "very good" +54 in June.

 

Similarly, the House of Representatives suffered a net satisfaction rating drop from a "good" +37 in June to a "moderate" +27 in September, with 50 percent satisfied and 23 percent dissatisfied.

 

For its part, the Supreme Court gained four points to a "good" +41 with 60 percent satisfied and 18 percent dissatisfied in September, from +37 in June.

 

As for the Cabinet as a whole, net satisfaction dipped slightly to a "moderate" +27 with 48 percent satisfied and 21 percent dissatisfied, from +28 in June. —KG, GMA News
