Darth Vader's selfie: Star Wars comes to Instagram

This in a nutshell was the message of the first post of the popular Star Wars franchise on Facebook-owned Instagram photo sharing service.

 

The post featured Star Wars antagonist Darth Vader snapping a photo of himself with a smartphone—something not yet invented a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

 

 

It indicated the Vader selfie was posted Dec. 2 at 12:21 p.m.

 

"Follow us. It is useless to resist," read a repost of the entry on the official Star Wars blog.

 

A separate article on tech site The Verge said this could be the start of a marketing pitch for Star Wars: Episode VII, which is still two years away.

 

"(T)he Instagram account is a fun taste of Disney's plans to introduce the Star Wars universe it now controls to a new generation of moviegoers who aren't familiar with Luke Skywalker or Han Solo," it added.

 

Star Wars: Episode VII will debut in theaters nationwide on December 18th, 2015. — TJD, GMA News
