The PBA is reviewing the applications of three new expansion teams, announced their official Twitter account on Thursday, to join its existing 10-team pool.

Two applicants, namely Everbilena Cosmetics Incorporated and Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, seek to elevate their respective PBA D-League teams, the Blackwater Sports Elite and NLEX Road Warriors, to the big leagues.

Meanwhile the Columbian Autocar Corporation, the exclusive distributors of Kia Motors in the Philippines, is the lone fresh-faced entry.

The announcements confirmed rumors that the league was seriously looking into league expansion, pending  the approval of the board of governors.

According to the CAC's letter of intent, posted on the PBA's official Facebook page, president Ginia Domingo believes that the time "may be indeed ripe" for their company to join the league, citing Kia's past partnerships as awards presenters in the PBA, and sponsorships with the Philippine Azkals and the NBA.

The NLEX Road Warriors are the D-League's premier team, winning five of six conferences since the league's inception. Its current roster features Gilas cadet pool members Kevin Alas, Garvo Lanete, Matt Ganuelas, Jake Pascual, and Ronald Pascual. Meanwhile, Blackwater Sports Elite won the 2013 Foundation Cup, spearheaded by now-Batang Pier Justin Chua and current college standouts Kevin Ferrer and Jericho Cruz. - GMA News
