LAS VEGAS – Manny Pacquiao was in a light and relaxed mood during his final day of training for his welterweight title rematch against Timothy Bradley on Saturday (Sunday, PHL time).
And that only means one thing – he’s ready to go.
“This is going to be a good fight,” said Pacquiao as he and trainer Freddie Roach wrapped up their two-month training camp at the Top Rank gym here on Thursday (Friday, PHL time).
The 35-year-old boxing great worked the mitts with Roach and did his usual abdominal stretches during the two-hour workout, where he was joined by former world champion Miguel Cotto, reigning light-welterweight titleholder Ruslan Provodnikov, and two-time Olympic gold medalist Zou Shiming – all stablemates at the Wild Card gym.
Just before the boxing legend from General Santos City left, all of them had their photo taken at the center of the ring along with the 55-year-old Roach.
Pacquiao said he sees no problem meeting the 147-lb. limit going to Friday’s official weigh-in (Saturday, PHL time) at the MGM Grand, adding he’s just maintaining his current weight.
Strength and conditioning coach Justine Fortune said the Filipino southpaw weighed 149 earlier in the day, but pointed out Pacquiao may have lost three pounds following the workout, exactly the weight the camp of the eight-time champion intends to come in. - Gerry Ramos, SPIN
