104th Trainees Squad, rejoice!
The long-awaited sequel to manga Attack on Titan's (Shingeki No Kyojin) highly-acclaimed anime adaptation will finally air nine months after the first season ended.
Singapore-based cosplay costume seller Otaku House reported on April 1 that the next season will air in July, ending months of speculation.
Japanese news blog Rocket News 24 had earlier said AOT producer Wit Studio had confirmed a second season, but did not give a specific release date.
Anime News Network then announced the release of two compilation films for AOT in 2014 and 2015. The first film, "Attack on Titan Part I: Crimson Bow and Arrow" (Shingeki no Kyojin Zenpen ~Guren no Yumiya~) will see a release in winter, while "Attack on Titan Part II: Wings of Freedom" (Shingeki no Kyojin K?hen ~Jiy? no Tsubasa~) will open next year.
Crimson Bow and Arrow will cover episodes 1 through 13, while episodes 14 through 25 will be in Wings of Freedom. It will also feature new dubbing and key characters Eren Jaeger, Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlelt will have their voice actors reprise their roles.
New York-based imprint Kodansha Comics, meanwhile, will publish Hajime Isayama's manga, three of its four spin-off mangas, and the Attack on Titan Guidebooks: INSIDE & OUTSIDE in North America.
Currently on its 13th volume, AOT follows Eren Jaeger, who decides to join the elite Survey Corps after witnessing a Titan eat his mother. After two years of training, he delves into a war against the colossal beings to save the last standing human settlement on Earth.
Season One of the anime adaptation ran from April to September 2013. — Rie Takumi/JDS/TJD, GMA News
