Microsoft is looking for beta testers for its Office for Android suite

If you're a user Microsoft's Office productivity suite and you happen to own an Android device, you just might be the one Microsoft's looking for.

That's because the software giant is now working on an Office designed for Android tablets, tech site The Verge reported.

Quoting sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans, The Verge said Microsoft is now readying a "private beta test" for the Office Android tablet version, and is getting participants via a special pre-release program.

"Companies and individuals can register their interest in testing pre-release versions of Office over at Microsoft’s SharePoint site," it said.

The Verge said the upcoming release is expected later this year, though it will be second major tablet-optimized suite after Office for iPad.

It said Office for Android tablets may include a touch-optimized interface similar to the Office for iPad version.

"The Android version will reportedly launch ahead of Microsoft’s own finger-friendly version of Office for Windows, which is currently scheduled for early 2015," it added. — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
