The Manila Electric Co. could not give a specific timetable on when the rotating brownouts in Metro Manila and nearby provinces will finally end.

Meralco said the problem lies with the electricity supply from power plants it draws power from, radio dzBB reported early Saturday.

It said problems affecting the power plants is something not within its control.

The dzBB report said Meralco hinted the rotating brownouts could last well into next week.

On Friday, Meralco cited power supply problems in implementing rotating brownouts of up to six hours in some franchise areas.

Meralco's franchise areas include Metro Manila and nearby provinces including Bulacan and Cavite.

A separate report by GMA News' Katrina Son on "Saksi" said power facilities have yet to be restored in Batangas, Cavite, Rizal, Laguna, and Bulacan.
