Bikini open events now outlawed in Iloilo City
Bikini open shows are now outlawed in Iloilo City, after the city council on Tuesday approved an ordinance banning such events.
The ordinance, which takes effect 15 days after publication, penalizes organizers of such shows with a P5,000 fine and one-year imprisonment, GMA Iloilo's Mark Nunieza reported.
"Meron siyang fine. It’s P5,000 and there is a one-year imprisonment," said councilor Liezl Joy Zulueta-Salazar, the proponent of the measure.
Such an ordinance has the support of barangay officials in the city even if bikini opens had been considered an attraction at local celebrations, the report said.
Carlos Guarin, who heads the barangay officials in Iloilo City, said bikini opens had been blamed for violent incidents.
"Marami pa mang mga shows na pwedeng gawin na hindi sobrang daring," he added. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
