(Updated 11:05 a.m.) Unidentified gunmen shot dead two Swiss nationals at a beach resort in Opol town in Misamis Oriental province Sunday afternoon.

Police are tracking down the gunmen who killed Robert Erich Loever and Baltazar Johann Erni, GMA Northern Mindanao's Francis Damit reported on "Unang Balita."

The report said the incident occurred at about 2 p.m., where at least two gunmen fired at the victims then fled.

"Naglalakad lang kami at ikinagulat na lamang namin nang pagtingin ko kay Robert ay duguan na ang ulo nito. Kaya't humingi na kami ng tulong nguni't hanggang tingin lamang ang mga tao sa paligid," said Loever's fiance Leticia Virtudazo Erni.

Both victims were killed instantly after sustaining gunshot wounds in different parts of the body.

"One of the victims sustained a gunshot wound at the forehead and at the neck. And the other one sustained one gunshot wound at the back of head and back portion of the body," said Scene of the Crime Operations 10 team leader Dr. West Edquila

Police said robbery does not appear to be a motive for the killing as the victims' belongings were not taken.

Opol police head Senior Inspector Alwin Baclao said their initial information showed the suspects may have used silencers.

"Possible motive, still conducting further investigation," Baclao said. — Joel Locsin/DVM/RSJ, GMA News
