The Alaska Aces benefited from a surprise splendid performance from Vic Manuel to cruise to a 105-64 victory against the Meralco Bolts on Friday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Manuel tallied 17 points in a bit over 18 minutes, going eight of nine from the field with four rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block

"Our guys played fantastic. It's just one of those games our guys battled hard. We shot the ball really well," said Alaska head coach Alex Compton, who was quick to remind the media that the Aces were recently at the other end of a lopsided affair. "Our team got beaten by 51 last conference. Stuff can happen; our guys were making shots. We just wanna honor the game and our opponents. I expect that team (Meralco), with the character that they have, they will bounce back strong, i really don't want to play them next."

Dondon Hontiveros added 16 points for the Aces, while Chris Banchero and Calvin Abueva added 11 and 10, respectively.

The Aces ended the first period with a 10-point lead and never looked back, stretching their advantage to 17-points at the half after a Dondon Hontiveros jumper, 54-37.

Meralco couldn't offer an answer in the offensive end, as the Aces entered the final period with a 24-point edge.

Cliff Hodge led Meralco with 16 points and 11 boards, as Sean Anthony chipped in 11 points with seven rebounds. Jared Dillinger added nine. - Renee Fopalan, GMA News
