Nurses Show Live! on May 12 in NYC
NEW YORK – A Nurses Show Live! will be held on May 12 at Sheraton Hotel La Guardia in Flushing in a bid to support and empower nurses through holistic health and make them better caregivers.
“The idea is to encourage nurses to pause and re-evaluate their own self goals, not only to become savvy and competitive but well-rounded, well-preserved individuals," said nurse Myrna Dominguez, founder of the Nurses Show Live!
Nurses Show Live! is a self-help and stress reduction program that addresses the problems facing nurses in the course of their personal lives and at the workplace. This program combines a continuing education seminar with live entertainment and exhibits.
“Our mission is to preserve, promote and maintain the total well-being of nurses through effective and innovative utilization of socio-economic, technical, informational resources, evidenced-based practices and Holistic principles by providing education, support and assistance," said Dominguez, a nurse at Veteran Affairs Medical Center.
A graduate from the University of Santo Tomas’ Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1976, Dominguez immigrated to the U.S. in 1979. Her first job is a staff nurse in Oncology at the Mt. Sinai Hospital, Miami Beach.
She relocated to New York in 1988 and has worked as an ICU staff nurse at the VA Medical Center until now. She has a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix Online.
With 30 years of nursing background, Dominguez said she has an idea what nurses need. She believes that stress is one of the greatest factors affecting not only their personal lives, but their professional practices as well.
She designed a self-help and stress reduction program by producing Nurses Show Live! as a venue to show appreciation to the nursing profession she loves so much.
“I believe that holistic approaches to wellness should be lived by nurses before they can teach them and that they should be freed from any physical, mental, emotional, social, and financial elements before they can serve others unselfishly," said Dominguez.
“We value service, commitment, excellence, compassion, collaboration, communication, and multiculturalism among nurses," she added. - Philippine News
