British boxer Amir Khan said that facing Manny Pacquiao is an easier fight for Floyd Mayweather Jr. after his negotiations to fight either of the two boxers went down the drain.

Khan believed that highly-anticipated the mega-bout will never happen and began talks with both parties to consider him as the second option, but he was left with no opponent when Mayweather finally announced that the fight is a done deal.

"My strong performance against Devon Alexander has made some of the opponents think twice about taking me on," he told The Sun according to theboxingvoice.com. "Mayweather has probably chosen to fight Pacquiao because it’s an easier fight."

"He is taking the easy route but boxing is a business and obviously he is going to do what makes for sense for him financially," Khan added.

The 28-year-old said that he came close to scoring a deal with the Filipino champion, in particular, as the pair talked in London when Pacman was in town to meet Prince Harry.

With Khan relegated as an observer in the bout considered by many as the biggest in the sport, he said he believes that the fight will not be explosive as people think because both boxers are already past their prime.

"They’re both very experienced but it could turn out to be a boring fight because there is just so much expectation on it," he said. "We’ve seen it in the past with mega-fights, they often turn out to be quite dull.” —Marisse Panaligan/RAF/JST, GMA News
