Janet Ricabo, 12, and Michelle Alfonso, 11, became social media celebrities by dissing haters in the hit video "Pabebe Warriors", which has been imitated by netizens and celebrities.
But as "Pabebe Girls" Ricabo and Alfonso revealed on GMA's "24 Oras" on Friday, the cute girl act was just that- a performance.
"Sabihin daw po namin, yung magmamaldita daw po kami," Ricabo said, explaining how their neighbor convinced them to make the popular video.
While they found the entire venture amusing, their parents found the videos unpleasant.
Despite the online bashing their videos earned them, Ricabo thanked netizens for the attention and the parodies they made.
Sociologist Luis Buenaventura reminded parents, however, to teach their children about the the real-world consequences uploading such videos may have, as their intent may be misinterpreted by netizens.
"It's really up to you. — Rie Takumi/JDS, GMA News
