Andal Ampatuan Sr.’s remains to be buried in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao

SHARIFF AGUAK, Maguindanao - The remains of former Maguindanao Gov. Andal Ampatuan Sr. will be buried Saturday inside the compound of his mansion in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao.

The convoy bearing his remains traveled from Cotabato City to this municipality and arrived past 12 noon. Media personnel were barred from entering the Ampatuan compound when the convoy arrived.

His body will be buried according to Muslim tradition with an imam present.

Family members and supporters who awaited the arrival of the convoy have already gathered inside and outside the mansion. About 50-100 people, including tricycle drivers, are outside the mansion.

Ampatuan died Friday night at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute in Quezon City, his lawyer Ferdinand Topacio said.

Bai Mayan Sinsuat, an in-law of the Ampatuan patriarch, also confirmed the death. — with Andrei Medina/KG/LBG, GMA News
