New Street Fighter V characters revealed
This past weekend was indeed a celebration of all things gaming, as Sony put together a second “Playstation Experience” and even helped Capcom host the culminating event of this year’s long running Capcom Pro Tour by gathering together 32 of the best fighters from around the world and holding the “Capcom Cup 2015” finals, which saw a winner crowned in Ryota “Kazunoko” Inoue as he defeated Daigo “The Beast” Umehara to become the Capcom Cup 2015 Champion.
However, this would arguably be the last time that Ultra Street Fighter IV would be used as the default game in a tournament setup, as Capcom braces fans and players for the impending release of Street Fighter V come February next year. To give everyone a glimpse of things to come, series producer Yoshinori Ono went up to the stage and presented a new trailer that showcases a teaser of the opening cinematic of the game – featuring mainstays like Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li as well as new fighters like Rashid and Necalli in action.
Talking about new fighters, Ono also unveiled a new fighter for the new sequel during this weekend’s Playstation Experience event, and his name is F.A.N.G – an assassin who describes himself as the “second-in-command” of Shadaloo – the same evil organization commanded by longtime Street Fighter series antagonist, M. Bison.
After showing the newest addition to the default roster, Ono also put an end to another mystery by revealing the names of the six additional fighters coming to Street Fighter V post-launch, and that’s Guile, Juri, Ibuki, Balrog, Urien, and Alex. While no images were revealed other than shadowy templates, these returns excited fans, especially the latter two characters who will be making their long awaited return to a Street Fighter game since the Street Fighter III series. Only time will tell how these characters will look like and how things will play out after the game comes out come early 2016.
