Transportation firm to test double-deckers on non-stop route Thursday

The point-to-point (P2P) double-decker bus service will start a dry run Thursday morning, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board chairman Winston Ginez said Wednesday.

In a post on his Twitter account, Ginez said the dry run for the SM North-to-Glorietta 5 route will depart at 7:30 am.


In a separate post on its Facebook account, the transport firm Froehlich Tours said it will showcase its flagship double-decker buses before the media, LTFRB, and Department of Transportation and Communications.

“Froehlich Tours Inc. will do a dry run on the EDSA route by using its flagship Higer KLQ 6122 DD VIP, to showcase before the LTFRB, DOTC and the media the capability to use Double Deck Buses on EDSA for P2P Premium Bus Services,” it said.

“The dry run will be open for our patrons to join and experience the feeling of a new breed of Premium Buses. We also invite the media to join us for a demonstration of the future of EDSA transportation.”

The fare is P55 per ride and P40 for students, senior citizens and persons with disability.

On Tuesday, Ginez announced the expansion of the non-stop bus network to include the North Edsa-to-Makati and North Edsa-to-Ortigas routes as a fourth package.

The first bundle comprises of return trips from Fairview and Ortigas to Makati, the second bundle from Katipunan and Libis to Makati, and the third bundle from Alabang to Makati.

The point-to-point bus service was tested during the Christmas and New Year holidays with the southbound trips leaving the point of origin every thirty minutes from 6:20 a.m to 11:40 p.m., and northbound trips from 8:00 a.m to 10:00 p.m. – VS, GMA News
