Consignee of LTO’s 600k license plates ready to pay P40M in duties —Customs
The consignee of the Land Transportation Office's 600,000 license plates abandoned at the Manila International Container Port is now ready to pay the P40 million in duties and taxes to the Bureau of Customs.
BOC spokesperson Belle Maestro said the Dutch-Filipino consortium Knieriem BV Goes and Power Plates Development Concept Inc. has sent word that it will settle its obligations to the Philippine government.
Customs Commissioner Alberto Lina earlier said revealed that the shipment remained unclaimed after the consignee failed to pay the duties and taxes.
"The consignee JKG-PPI of 600,000 LTO license plates has committed to settling with the Bureau of Customs its payment obligations," Maestro said.
"The Bureau is on standby for payment, after which we will release the shipment immediately," she added. -NB, GMA News
