Pacquiao on Mayweather rematch: It depends if the fans want it
Eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao isn't holding his breath for another fight with Floyd Mayweather.
In his return to the Philippines on Thursday morning, Pacquiao reacted to Showtime Sports executive vice president and general manager Stephen Espinoza's statement that a rematch is possible should the fans demand it.
Pacquiao, who just defeated Timothy Bradley this past weekend, seems to be open for a rematch but only if the market would demand it.
"It's hard to tell [if Pacquiao vs. Mayweather 2 could happen], we can't answer that for now but it all depends if the fans want it," Pacquiao told GMA News Online.
"Right now he's retired, I am retired as well so we can't say just yet. That's another story that we have to think about."
Espinoza praised Pacquiao's performance against Bradley, saying how it was like witnessing the Filipino ring icon of old.
Pacquiao, for his part, revealed how he made the impressive showing happen against Bradley.
"Our strategy was according to his style, I had to be aggressive yet careful," said Pacquiao.
"We couldn't afford to be careless because he was trying to counter punch. Actually, Bradley was better in our last fight than the first two." —JST, GMA News
