Which 3 PHL islands are among Travel + Leisure’s 10 best in the world?
Readers of international travelers' magazine Travel + Leisure again recognized islands in the Philippines among the best in the world, with two of them nabbing the top two spots.
Coming in at number 6 is Cebu, while making it to the number 2 and number 1 spots respectively are Boracay and Palawan, two fixtures on international world's-best-island lists.
"The Philippines’ predominance shows that discerning travelers are willing to travel great distances for the rewards of clear waters and sugary white beaches," the magazine said in its ranking.
In naming Palawan the best island in the world according to its readers, the magazine noted its "impossibly blue turquoise waters", its reefs, and the famous underground river in Sabang.
Boracay, pipped to the top spot by Palawan again just as in 2013, also had one entry in the magazine's list of top hotel resorts in Southeast Asia: Shangri-La's Boracay Resort & Spa, which came in at number 8.
Travel + Leisure conducted the survey among its readers November 2, 2015 to February 29, 2016. The categories in the survey were: Airports, Car-rental agencies, Cities, Cruise ships, Destination spas, Hotels, Hotel brands, Islands, and Tour operators and safari outfitters.
For the Islands ranking, readers took into account each place's natural attractions/beaches, activities/sights, restaurants/food, people/friendliness, and value.
