Expect low supply from West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc., as raw water from the Ipo Dam continues to contain higher levels of sediment.

Ginagawa lahat para masiguro na ligtas (ang tubig)," Maynilad Spokesperson Grace Laxa said in an interview on GMA News' "News to Go" on Monday.

Maynilad cut down its water output by 66 percent on Sunday due to high turbidity levels noted in the raw water from the Ipo Dam. Turbidity reflects the amount of sediment from soil erosion in the dam's water.

For now, Laxa said customers may put a clean cloth over the mouth of their faucet to act as a filter. She advised customers to boil the water to ensure it is safe for drinking.

Maynilad is the agent and contractor of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System for certain portions of the cities of Manila and Quezon City. It also serves west of the South Super Highway in Makati City as well as the cities of Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas, and Malabon. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/VDS, GMA News
