Harambe vs Capcom: Parody turns mighty gorilla into a warrior
Ever since he was tragically killed in a controversial zoo incident in the US in May, Harambe the Gorilla has lived on as an eternal meme. From the Internet to television and video games, there’s almost no place in popular culture that you wouldn’t see Harambe being mentioned or used.
A couple of programmers have decided to create a crossover game that gives the great ape tons of special moves and supers that make him a force to be reckoned with and pits him against characters from Capcom’s impressive brawler line-up. “Harambe vs Capcom” is a free to play game that sees the gorilla gifted with psychic powers and aware that he is targeted for assassination.
He then fakes his death and travels the world, fighting world warriors, street fighters, and other Capcom characters.
Much like any Mugen fighting game that makes use and modifies familiar sprites and animations from existing titles, "Harambe vs Capcom" is a labor of love by fans of the genre and obviously those that actually engage in the Harambe meme craze. In fact, there’s even a theme song by Klopfenpop and Lex Lingo that’s been uploaded to SoundCloud, and it’s also featured in the game’s trailer.
If you've wanted to seek justice for Harambe, now is your chance. You can find the game on the official website and download it for free. — BM, GMA News
