Filipino hoops sensation Kobe Paras is ready to make his debut at the US National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) next month.

Kobe, son of PBA legend Benjie Paras, will be playing for the Creighton University Bluejays.

In a News To Go report on Monday the 19-year-old basketball standout said he made a good decision of withdrawing from the University of California (UCLA) in Los Angeles, and transferring to Creighton in Nebraska.

“All we do is conditioning and I fit in there, I do hustle plays and I bring energy; so every time we're running, I'm the type of person who uplifts everyone,” he said.

Paras admitted however that he also had to make adjustments during the training.

“It was difficult for me at first because they had different plays that I don't know of,” he said.

Creighton is coached by Greg McDermott, the father of Chicago Bulls forward Doug McDermott, who also starred for the squad.

Other notable Creighton alumni include former NBA player and coach Paul Silas, retired NBA center Benoit Benjamin, and Atlanta Hawks wingman Kyle Korver.

Paras said he still hopes to play for the Gilas Pilipinas someday.

“I really wanna be a part of the Gilas team and it's been a dream of mine to represent my country,” he said.

He also promised Filipinos following his basketball career that they will enjoy Creighton's games.

"Mga kababayan, salamat po sa lahat ng mga binibigay n'yo sa akin... Promise na promise ko na magiging masaya po kayo sa mga games namin," he said. —Kathrina Charmaine Alvarez/ALG, GMA News
