Reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach visited Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle on Monday morning at Arzobispado de Manila in Intramuros to hand over her donations to Caritas Manila's fundraising bazaar.

Wurtzbach donated some of her bags, shoes and gowns to be sold at the two-day 1st Celebrity Pre-loved Luxury Brands Sale of Caritas Manila, to be held at Glorietta 5, Atrium in Makati City on December 13 and 14.

The proceeds will help 5,000 Youth Servant Leadership & Education Program (YSELP) scholars nationwide.

Cardinal Tagle gave the beauty queen a rosary from Pope Francis as a gift of appreciation for her contribution.

"We are happy that a person like you and other celebrities, if we might use that word, are offering whatever you could to support especially the young people in need of education. Thank you very much for your support of theYSLEP program of the Caritas Manila," Tagle told her.

"Miss Pia, you are towering figure; we look up to you," he added. "We welcome you to the residence of the Archdiocese of Manila. We call it residencia. Very simple residence. We are here for one purpose and it is to serve our brothers and sisters."

The beauty queen in turn thanked the Cardinal for the warm welcome.

"So mag bigayan po tayo na walang hinihiling na kapalit, hindi po ba," she said at the event. "Maraming salamat sa pagimbita sa akin dito. And I hope we could work together for Caritas International in the future, even after Miss Universe."

Wurtzbach also turned over the proceeds earned from a charity gala night she hosted with pageant mentor Jonas Gaffud two nights ago, which they did with the intent to give back with "pure love and good faith."

"The proceeds we were able to collect from that event we’re donating to Caritas Manila," said Wurtzbach.

"We are all doing this just out of pure love and good faith and asking for nothing in return—just giving back because we feel very blessed," she aded.

Wurtzbach also said that the country is moving the right way after being given the chance to host this year's Miss Universe competition.

"The country is going to the right direction, and of course the Miss Universe competition is here so we feel like we want to give back as much as we can. Of course its timely because it’s the holiday season as well," she said.

Meanwhile, executive director of Caritas Manila, Fr. Anton Pascual encouraged everyone to support fundraising bazaar, where pre-loved items of celebrities such as designer clothes, shoes, accessories, bags and toys will be sold up to 80% off. The entrance fee is priced at P250/person.

Pascual said that they are expecting to raise P2 million in two days.

Among other celebrities who donated pre-loved items are Kris Aquino, Sarah Geronimo, Rufa Gutierrez, JC Intal and Derek Ramsay.

Some of the brands to be sold are Hermes, Chanel, Prada Valentino, Louis Vuitton and Burberry.
