Duterte will witness a back-to-back Miss Universe win —Maxine Medina

The Philippines' bet to the Miss Universe pageant, Maxine Medina, on Tuesday said she is confident President Rodrigo Duterte will witness a back-to-back win.

"I'm very honored that our President will be there. He will be witnessing a back-to-back (win)," the beauty queen said at a press conference.

On Tuesday, pageant sisters and mentors from the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Incorporated had a ‘show of beauty and show of force’ for Medina, GMA News' Aubrey Carampel reported on News To Go on Wednesday.

She wore a salmon pink gown designed by Rhett Eala for her sendoff. Eala also designed Medina's national costume and evening gown for the Miss Universe 2016 competition.

Medina said preparing for the pageant has been tough, but assured her fans that she's in fighting-form at 34-24-35.

Medina also told the press that she's looking forward to touring the Philippines, as it has always been her goal to explore her own backyard before flying out and seeing the world.

The beauty queen is also excited to show the beauty of the country to the other candidates and share the best Filipino food with them.

"I would like for them to try a boodle fight—(eating) without utensils, that's very challenging for them to try!" Medina said.

The Miss Universe 2016 pageant will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena on January 30. —Aya Tantiangco/KG, GMA News
