Mom of teen who received Miss Bulgaria's gown just wants best for her daughter

Zyra Nicole Cifra will be a true queen come prom night when she sashays across the floor wearing Miss Bulgaria Violina Ancheva's blue gown. 

This was after Ancheva announced on Facebook on Monday after the Miss Universe coronation that she would like to give away her gown "to one of you that really want it and need it."

Cifra became the gown's proud owner on Tuesday.

In an interview with GMA News' News To Go on Thursday, Cifra's mother Issay Gallano said that she initially kept her communications with Ancheva as a secret. Cifra would later receive the gown as a surprise. 

"Hinanap ko si (Miss Bulgaria) sa Facebook, tapos nag-chat ako sa kaniya. Tapos sabi ko lang, kung puwede niyang i-donate sa amin ng anak ko 'yong gown niya, kasi 'yong anak ko mag-pro-prom next month, kaso short ako sa budget kasi single mom lang ako," Gallano told GMA News' Kara David. 

Gallano said Ancheva replied within a minute and asked her if she lived in Manila. A number of people were also sending messages to the beauty queen from the provinces, but she was leaving in two hours and would be unable to meet them. 

When Gallano posted a photo of her daughter wearing Ancheva's gown, David noted that negative comments were left by people who felt that Gallano and her daughter Cifra didn't deserve the gown.

"Hindi ko na lang po sinasagot," Gallano said, referring to the bashers. "Lahat na naman may sariling opinion."

She added, "Bilang nanay, 'yong best 'yong gusto mo para sa anak mo. So kung gown ng Miss Universe 'yon na ginamit sa Miss Universe pageant, syempre gusto mo din na magamit ng anak mo 'yon."

Gallano and Cifra instead chose to focus on Ancheva's kindness. 

"Nag-video message siya sa akin. Nag-sorry siya na hindi niya ako ma-mi-meet in person kasi may problem," Gallano shared. "After no'ng video message, bigla siyang tumawag na parang hindi tama 'yong feeling, gusto niya talaga akong makita in person."

Fortune was on the pair's side as they were able to meet at Conrad Hotel and Gallano said that Ancheva seemed genuinely kind and sincerely happy at the thought of making a teen feel especially beautiful on prom night. 

Gallano revealed that Ancheva even threw in her shoes with the dress.

She and daughter Cifra both hope to see the Bulgarian beauty back in the Philippines again. 

At Conrad Hotel, Gallano also met Miss Canada Siera Bearchell and Red Carpet event host Bretman Rock. 

"Sobrang bait niya din. Sabi niya ang ganda daw ng camera ko," she said about Bretman Rock.
