Six months following his arrest on drug charges, actor Niño Muhlach figured in a road accident Wednesday night as his sport utility vehicle collided with a passenger sedan in Pasig City.

Muhlach, the former "child wonder" of Philippine showbiz, was on his way home with his girlfriend and two other female companions when the mishap took place at a street intersection.

His vehicle, a black Mitsubishi Montero Sport, rammed a black Toyota Corolla. Muhlach blamed a broken stop light for the incident.

The car driver, whose identity was not immediately disclosed, was unable to present his driver's license.

GMA News added that the 35-year-old Muhlach, or Angelo Jose Rocha Muhlach in real life, and his companions were all unharmed.

Last March 13, Muhlach was arrested by antidrug police operatives for alleged possession of 1.9 grams of shabu at a food court inside a Quezon City shopping mall.

He was released after posting a P200,000-bail.

A month later, Muhlach arrived late for the arraignment proceedings, allegedly because the fan belt of his car got busted.

The judge, however, issued a fresh arrest warrant and canceled Muhlach's bail.

The arraignment was reset to May 7. Muhlach entered a not guilty plea. - GMANews.TV
