Park and dine: Dining in cars is the new normal in these restaurants

By Racquel Quieta

Two restaurants in the country are taking physical or social distancing up a notch by implementing a new normal for dine-in services, the park-and-dine option.

The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has allowed dine-in services in restaurants placed under the general community quarantine (GCQ) since June 15, but only with a limited capacity of 30%.

While many restaurants opted to limit dine-in customers and have installed barriers for social distancing, Army Navy and Max's Restaurant took a unique approach to ensure the safety of their customers and employees amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Both restaurants are now operating with the park-and-dine option, where customers will eat inside their car, instead of inside the restaurant.

Restaurant staff will take the orders and payment of the park-and-dine customers, then bring the food to them while they wait in their vehicle.

Max's Restaurant and Army Navy will both be implementing this new normal in select branches in Luzon.

For the full list of their participating branches, visit their official Facebook pages.

Until it's safe to eat inside restaurants without needing to observe social distancing, expect park-and-dine to be the new normal when eating in restaurants.
